when in ireland....

...do as the irish.

which means drink heavily (and often!) and be loud and merry.
last time i checked, these are all good things.

and that is precisely what we have been doing.

in the hunt of all things wonderful (guinness, baileys, whiskey, etc), i was told that the much beloved American happy-hour does not exist in ireland...

why you ask....

"they've done away with those deals, otherwise the country would go crazy. they know we love the stuff too much," said one woman. when i proceeded to laugh over her statement, she jovially told me: "don't laugh at our misery! it's a sad state of affairs!"

and so in all that ive witnessed thus far (i admit ive only been here less than 48 hours), the irish are an extremely fun-loving, outgoing, and hilariously funny bunch of people. history shows they are resilient and proud; intense, and persistant; religious and determined. i've always revelled in the fact that im irish (about 90-95%), and being here confirms that i come from good people.

ps. photos will be coming
