Dennis Martinez, 66, served in the Marine Corp from '61-'66 during the Cuban Missile Crisis, when he was 17 years-old. He and his 7 brothers all served in the military, and his family is part of the San Fernando Band of Mission Indians who were relocated to northern Washington when the US government carved out reservation land for Native Americans. He is part of the Vanyume tribe, originally from the Mojave Desert.
